Clik here to view.Who isn’t occasionally sucked into an infomercial? I couldn’t help but stop and watch Chaz Dean because I’m not only a sucker for an infomercial but I also am a self-proclaimed Jeff Lewis fan. Jeff Lewis, the one celeb sighting I wanted but didn’t have in LA (because I know we would totally be friends), gutted Chaz’s salon and designed it on Flipping Out last season. As I watched Chaz on the infomercial, I really needed to know does shampoo that doesn’t shampoo work?
I just received my Wen cleansing conditioner and I can’t really give a thorough review yet since I’ve only used it twice but here are my initial thoughts. I was a little concerned when the directions read apply 16-48 pumps to your scalp (depending on hair length) but I quickly blew that off because every bottle of shampoo says wash, rinse and repeat….who does that? Not any mom’s I know, because our showers our usually 3 minutes long. Plus, if I went with 48 pumps, this bottle would be done in 3 days. I went with 10 pumps. It doesn’t suds up and feels more like a conditioner, which makes you wonder, is my hair getting clean? It says to leave it on your hair for 3-5 minutes, which means I was going to have a really long shower so; I quickly multi-tasked and shaved my legs (TMI). When I rinsed, my hair did feel clean and not just conditioned. It was 1000 degrees here yesterday so I opted for a ponytail so I will post down the road on how my hair looks. The real test came later in the day when I decided to give it a whirl on M’s hair that is curly and fine and beautiful but a well-documented bane of my existence. It’s a miracle. Normally, in order to get a comb/brush through M’s hair, I have to slap on shampoo, 48 pumps of a conditioner that results in 150 dumps of water over the head TWICE and a half of bottle of detangler. It made M’s hair smooth as silk. When I got out the brush last night, it was like a dream. So the money I saved on the Mason Pearson knock-off brush, may be going to Chaz Dean….or Jeff Lewis or better yet Zoila.
UPDATE: So I have tried a plethora of products on M’s hair in the last few months and it’s been miserable. Why? Why? Did I feel like it was over-indulgent to spend $30 on a shampoo for a 4 year-old whom loves to use it to wash her barbies, the tub, and any other thing she decides needs a pump? Maybe….but frankly, I’m back to Wen. I purchased the Fig and bath time has been peaceful. Priceless.
